Bestselling Author and Changemaker David Magee Launches The Magee Foundation and The David Magee Co.

Oxford, Mississippi — October 23, 2025

David Magee, the bestselling author of Dear William: A Father’s Memoir of Addiction, Recovery, Love, and Loss and a nationally recognized voice on student, family, and community well-being, has launched two sister organizations based in his hometown of Oxford, Mississippi: The Magee Foundation and The David Magee Co.

Together, these ventures form a powerful ecosystem of storytelling, strategy, and social impact — working to bring hope, healing, and solutions to families, students, and communities across the nation.

The Magee Foundation, a nonprofit organization, focuses on developing innovative, story-driven programs and partnerships that address the opioid crisis, mental health, and student well-being. The Magee Foundation seeks to create scalable models built on storytelling that breaks stigma that connects education, community, and recovery — helping people not only survive, but flourish.

The David Magee Co., a creative and strategic storytelling company, is dedicated to producing media and initiatives that align with Magee’s mission of improving and saving lives through story. The company serves select partners and clients whose work reflects shared values of connection, purpose, and transformation. Its projects include involvement in the upcoming feature film adaptation of Dear William and development of a new unscripted television program exploring stories of recovery, resilience, and human connection in community.

“Story is the bridge between pain and purpose,” Magee said. “Through both the Foundation and The David Magee Co., our mission is to use storytelling — in books, film, education, and community — to heal, to connect, and to help families and students rediscover hope.”

Magee, whose Dear William became a Publisher’s Weekly national bestseller and was featured on CBS Mornings, is also the author of a dozen other books including How Toyota Became #1 and Playing to Win: Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. He frequently speaks across the country to universities, corporations, and communities on topics of mental health, resilience, and lasting purpose.
